U Tin (Dagon Shwe Hmyar)
Born June 1896 in Prome; son of U Chit Tun and Daw Saw, merehants, Prome; matriculated, Government High School, Prome, 1917; Pleadership Examination 1927; practised law 1927-40; published first novel at the age of 21; joined the Burma Translation Society, 1948 as compiler and later as Assistant Editor; Extra Mural Activities Officer, Administration Branch; retired on August 1, 1959. Member, Board of Film Censors 1950-51; President, Burma Writers' Association, 1950; Vice-President for two terms. Married Daw Thein Khin (deceased); fours sons, no daughter.
