1. Shwedagon Pagoda ( Yangon, Myanmar) The most notable building in Yangon is the Shwe Dagon Pagoda, a great cone-shaped Buddhist monument that crowns a hill about one mile north of the Cantonment. The pagoda itself is a solid brick stupa (Buddhist reliquary) that is completely covered with gold. It rises 326 feet (99 m) on a hill 168 feet (51 m) above the city. Open from 4am-10pm everyday. Admission Fees - US$5. Free for Myanmar Citizens.

2. Bagan ( Mandalay Division, Myanmar ) Bagan also know as Pagan and formally known as Arimaddanapura was the ancient capital Myanmar Kingdoms. It is located in Mandalay Division in the central dry land of Myanmar. It is about 90 miles southwest of Mandalay city on the eastern bank of Ayeyarwady River.

3. Mrauk U ( Rakhine State, Burma) Mrauk-U was the capital city of 48 kings for 355 years and was founded by King Mong Saw Mon in 1430. The city offers the visitor many chances to study the cultural and traditional heritage handed down to the present day Rakhine generation by their forefathers. Mrauk U can rightfully be claimed as the “Open-air Museum” of the arts and culture of the people of Rakhine.

Inle Lake (Shan State, Myanmar ) Just a short plane flight away from Yangon in the cool green highlands of Shan State, and yet seemingly worlds apart from the rest of Myanmar, lies Inle Lake in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The lake itself sits at a pleasant 2900 feet above sea level and is famous for its leg rowers, floating markets and prolific birdlife. Colorful hill tribes inhabit the surrounding fertile valleys and forested mountaintops, and their hand-woven silks are a specialty of the region.

8. A Wonder World: Monywa Thanboddhay ( Monywa, Magway Division) A pagoda complex in Monywa, an Upper Myanmar town 136 km northwest of Mandalay, rises like a fairy tale temple from the dusty land. A rainbow of colours flash in the sunlight from the glass mosaic set in the surface of the spires gives it a magical aura. The main stupa is surrounded by 845 smaller ones, all of them richly decorated in glass, gild, relief work and a myriad of colours.

Pyin Oo Lwin ( Mandalay Division, Myanmar) Although only 70 kilometres from Mandalay, Pyin Oo Lwin is worlds away climate-wise, a refreshing antidote to the hot, dusty and hectic streets of Myanmar's last royal capital. In that distance, the road between the two towns climbs from 74 to 1050 metres above sea level, winding through pine forests and past mountain vistas. This change in elevation, and the accompanying drop in temperature, accounts for much of the difference.

Kyaik Hti Yo Pagoda ( Mon State, Myanmar) It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Myanmar for the Buddhist, after the Shwedagon Pagoda of Yangon and the Maha Muni Pagoda of Mandalay.This is the Golden Rock pagoda and in the Mon language, Kyaik Hti Yo or ‘The pagoda on the hermits head’.

Vast areas of paddy land and forests of white gold or rubber plantations mark this land, making it into one of the most resource-rich areas in Myanmar.

Kawgun, caves of antiquity ( Mon State, Myanmar)Myanmar is already famous as having pagodas dotting the landscape from acres of plains, at almost every turn in the river, on top of high hills, in street corners of cities and at the entrance of each village. There are more not easily seen, which are pagodas and images enshrined within caves.

16. Chaung Thar Beach ( Ayeyarwaddy Division , Myanmar)Chaung Thar Beach is located 40 km to the west of Pathein (Bassein) in Ayeyarwaddy Division. It is about 5 hrs drive from Yangon to Chaung Thar Beach. It is an attractive wide beach with a muddy delta look. Not only coconut palms but also casuarinas trees can be found at the back of the beach. Two small islands can be seen offshore. The crab dishes of Chaung Thar Beach are also delicious and well-known. Fresh coconut juice will make relax here.
